Last Sunday at PPC, I spoke about the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus. If Jesus is worth pursuing, if Jesus is the most valuable treasure anyone can ever possess, what are we willing to lose to gain him? Can you count all accomplishment, achievements, and possessions as loss in comparison of gaining Christ?
Perhaps it is easy to say I can lose everything for the sake of Jesus when you have little things to lose. For others, it would be harder to count everything as loss or to lose everything. But if Jesus is everything, you would be glad to lose everything to have Him!
In Philippians 3: 7-8, the Apostle Paul talks about him counting everything as loss. He counted all things as rubbish or dung for the sake of Jesus. Earlier in chapter three, Paul listed his resumes and then took that list and flush them down the toilet. Nothing matters in comparison of the surpassing worth of knowing Jesus.
Do you know Jesus? If not, what are you willing to lose to gain Him? Are a follower of Jesus but don't really know Jesus? What are you willing to give up in order to know Him more intimately?
